CFA Level 2 Test Breakdown

On your path to earning your Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, the highest distinction a financial adviser can attain, the second hurdle to overcome is the CFA Level 2 exam, which is administered by the CFA Institute, and offered once each year in June. The fee to take this test will vary depending on the date by which you register to take it, and it's always subject to change, but it will be several hundred dollars at a minimum. Of course, to even be able to register for the CFA Level 2, you'll need to have passed Level 1.Just like the first exam, this one will be divided up into two three hour session, with a two hour lunch break in between, and it‘s graded on a Pass/Fail basis. But the format of Level 2 will be quite a bit different-you'll still be facing lots of multiple choice questions, but they'll come in an item set format. In other words, you'll be given a short case study to read, between one and three pages long, and then you'll be asked to answer several questions based on what you read. You'll have a total of 20 item sets, and each will have six multiple choice questions.

You'll need to bring a calculator, and only two kinds are allowed-Texas Instruments BA II Plus, or Hewlett Packard 12C. The CFA Level 2 exam will involve lots of difficult accounting, economic theory, and knowledge of different investments, how to evaluate them and compare and contrast them with other investments, calculating returns on investment, along with knowledge of CFA ethics, and much more. Study hard and long for the CFA Level 2, as less than half the people who take it will pass it. With desire and effort, you can be one of them.
