GHSGT Test Breakdown

The Georgia High School Graduation Test is a mechanism used to demonstrate that Georgia students have learned certain necessary academic skills in high school. Students must take the GHSGT before they are able to receive their high school diplomas.

It is a pass/fail test that is not part of student's normal classwork. For students that are not able to pass the GHSGT, they would still be eligible to take the GED, a high school equivalency exam, or to attend adult education classes to earn their diploma.

For most students passing the GHSGT is a steppingstone to college and better things. In other words it may increase your lifetime earnings significantly and allow you to get that better paying job.
