Nursing Jobs
Nature of the Industry
The healthcare industry uses science and technology to help
keep people healthy and care for patients who are injured or ill. Nurse
jobs involve tasks such as administering medication, starting IV lines,
and keeping detailed patient records.
Nurse jobs fall into four distinct areas of specialty.
- Setting: Nurse jobs
relating to a specialized setting include those that focus on areas
such as emergency room care or home healthcare.
- Disease:
A nurse who specializes in disease may focus on treating patients
suffering from conditions such as drug addiction, HIV, or diabetes.
- Body system:
Dermatology and endocrinology are two examples of body system areas
that require the assistance of nurses with specialized skills.
- PopulationNurse jobs focusing
on populations may include those that involve serving children or the
elderly.
Opportunities for people interested in nurse jobs are expected to
increase at a high rate. An aging population and a focus on the
importance of preventive medicine have led to an expansion in the
healthcare industry as a whole. There is a particularly high need for
registered nurses in physicians’ offices and nurses who work in home
healthcare.

Nurse jobs include positions for registered nurses, licensed
practical nurses, licensed vocational nurses, school nurses, medical
