TExES 132 Social Studies 8-12 Exam ReviewThe TExES 132 Social Studies 8-12 exam is a comprehensive assessment for prospective high school teachers in the state of Texas. In the government and citizenship domain, the exam addresses the following issues: how governments and structures of power function, provide order, and allocate resources; the use of this knowledge to facilitate student understanding of how individuals and groups achieve their goals through political systems; and citizenship in the United States and other countries. This domain also addresses how instruction can prepare students to participate in our society through an understanding of democratic principles and citizenship practices. In the economics and science, technology, and society domain of the TExES 132 Social Studies 8-12 exam, the following topics are covered: how people organize economic systems to produce and distribute consumer goods and services and how this knowledge can be used to enable students to understand economic systems and make informed economic decisions. This domain also includes questions about innovation in science and technology and how this knowledge can facilitate understanding of the social and environmental consequences of scientific and technological advances. Finally, in the social studies foundations, skills, research, and instruction domain of the TExES 132 Social Studies 8-12 exam, you will need to have a solid working knowledge of the social sciences, including their value and techniques for integrating the various social science disciplines. You will also need to understand the use of social studies, as defined by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), to plan and implement effective curriculum, instruction, assessment, and evaluation. The TExES 132 Social Studies 8-12 exam was developed by the Texas Education Agency and the Educational Testing Service.
