To ensure you’re up for the job, the state of New York requires you to take and earn a passing score on the NYSTCE Secondary Assessment of Teaching Skills—Written exam. This statewide test is designed to evaluate your preparedness to enter your field based on your understanding of relevant skills and concepts.
The NYSTCE Secondary Assessment of Teaching Skills—Written exam is timed, much like the other NYSTCE tests. You will receive four hours to complete a total of 81 questions, each of which fall under one of two distinct answer categories. One question will require an essay answer (“constructed-response”), while the other 80 are multiple choice (“selected-response”).
