The National Evaluation Series (NES) covers a broad scope of examinations designed to test for prospective educators’ mastery of skillsets related to their desired field. This dynamic testing program has been evaluated by hundreds of teachers, administrators and teacher educators to ensure it addresses the needs of today’s teachers to achieve certification. The NES Business Education exam is a computer-based test (CBT) that tests the applicant’s mastery of the following Content Domains and their respective Competencies:
Domain I: Business Management, Law and Ethics
This Content Domain tests the prospective educator’s understanding of:
- Functions, principles and methods of organizational management
- Principles of human resources management
- Business law and issues related to ethics and social responsibility
Content Domain II: Accounting, Personal Financial Management and Quantitative Analysis
This Content Domain tests the prospective educator’s understanding of:
- Business accounting
- Personal finance and principles of consumer economics
- Basic techniques of computation and quantitative analysis
Content Domain III: Economics and International Business
This Content Domain tests the prospective educator’s understanding of:
- Fundamental principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics
- International business, marketing and trade
Content Domain IV: Marketing, E-Commerce and Entrepreneurship
This Content Domain tests the prospective educator’s understanding of:
- Basic principles of marketing, marketing research and product/service planning and placement
- Principles and procedures related to e-commerce and internet marketing
- Entrepreneurship and business plan development
Content Domain V: Business Communications, Technology, Career Development and Professionalism
This Content Domain tests the prospective educator’s understanding of:
- Principles and procedures related to business communication
- Information systems
- Information processing and computer technology applications in business
- Career development and professionalism

Scoring
In order to receive a passing score on the Business Education exam, you are required to meet or exceed the National Benchmark score of 220. A scaled score will be available immediately upon completion of the examination, with official score reports being sent within two weeks of testing.
Registration Information
You will have access to the Business Education test by appointment, year round at any location of your choice from a nationwide network of professional testing centers. There is a registration fee of $95. Upon registering for the exam, you agree to abide by all testing rules and policies.
