The Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) have been implemented as a part of the teacher credentialing process in the State of Georgia. The GACE Elementary Education exam is specific to teaching candidates who wish to enter the teaching field as early childhood educators in grades P-5.

What are the eligibility requirements to take the GACE Elementary Education exam?

The GACE Elementary Education exam is only one part of the certification process for potential Georgia teachers. To sit for the exam, you must first be approved by the administrator of your state-approved teacher preparation program.

How much does the GACE Elementary Education exam cost?

The GACE Elementary Education exam will cost $123 for a single test, or $193 for the combined test. The listed fees include $25 for registration and $28 for the testing center. If you need to cancel your test, you will pay 50% of the test fee.

Cancellations must occur at least three days before a scheduled test date in order to receive the 50% refund. If you need to change your testing center, date, or time, you will be assessed a $25 fee.

What is the passing score for the GACE Elementary Education exam?

The passing score for the GACE Elementary Education exam is scaled. If you score between 220 and 249, you will have passed at the induction level; if you score 250, you will have passed at the professional level.

If you take the combined test and score at the induction level for one test, the entire exam will be considered passed at the induction level. You will need to retake the test scored at the induction level if you wish to receive a high enough score to pass at the professional level.

These score levels determine the type of credential you are able to receive. Lastly, the date by which you receive your official scores is dependent on the date on which you took the exam. Check the GACE website for further details.
