What is MTTC?
The Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) are designed to ensure that individuals seeking licensure as educators in Michigan have the knowledge and skills necessary to perform effectively in the state’s public school system.
The MTTC program consists of subject area exams. You must pass the specific MTTC exam(s) that correspond to each endorsement area you are seeking. For example, if you want to teach both mathematics and science at the secondary level, you would need to pass separate MTTC exams for each subject.
There is no limit to the number of times you may retake an MTTC exam, though MDE recommends seeking academic counseling after a fourth unsuccessful attempt.
