The Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) is a mandated testing program that is required as part of Michigan’s teacher certification. These examinations will ensure that each certified teacher has the necessary professional readiness and content knowledge to serve in Michigan schools. Should you wish to be certified in History in the state of Michigan, you must take the MTTC History Test (009), a subject area test of the MTTC. Mometrix has created a practice test for you to use to study for and pass this exam.
The test is available as either a paper-based test (BPT), or a computer-based test (CBT).
Both test formats include the same number of questions in various subject areas, all with the same scoring criteria for pass or fail. However, the time limit for the PBT and the CBT are different.
The PBT allows each test taker 4 hours and 30 minutes to complete to test, while the CBT allows 2 hours and 30 minutes.
For the MTTC History Test (009), you will need to answer 100 multiple-choice questions in the following subareas for the PBT and the CBT:
- Historical Concepts and Skills (10%)
- World History (33%)
- U.S. History (33%)
- Interdisciplinary Perspectives (24%)
You must receive a minimum score of 220 to pass both test formats.
Whichever test format is right for you, Mometrix has a MTTC History (009) practice test that will ensure you are prepared to pass the day of the test. Check out our practice test and get ready to pass your MTTC exam!
